PREPARATION IS EVERYTHING…ALMOST!

Most contractors, perhaps even most everybody knows that a quality paint job
begins with painstaking preparation. What most everybody, including some
contractors, does not know is the difference between paint and the right
coating for the job. The distinction is important but difficult to understand
without training from the manufacturer. The all important question is which
product or combination of products will create the best looking and longest
lasting finish within the constraints of the budget. Our production manager has
years of experience as a manufacturers rep for the largest paint manufacturer
in the world. He combines this with additional years of experience in
contracting. This combination of experience and training allows for an
unusually high degree of competence in getting the job done right. His job
begins with an evaluation of the project and its specifications, and continues
through the installation process to completion. No one we know of is better
prepared for this job than our paint production manager.

WE SET A HIGHER STANDARD WITH OUR METICULOUS
ATTENTION TO DETAIL!

Even if everyone does know that correct preparation is critical, knowing it is not
the same as doing it. In our work we see again and again where incorrect
preparation has led to premature failure of the coating and dramatically
increased costs associated with repairing the subsequent damage to the
coated surfaces themselves. It may cost a little more to do it right… but then
again, it may not.  A job done right is obviously less expensive in the long run,
but the initial cost may be lower as well. Knowing how to bid the job (i.e., the
details) eliminates the strategy of bidding high to cover yourself. But, the fact
remains, if you can’t afford to do it right the first time, how can you afford to do
it over? More than any other aspect of construction or remodeling that we work
in; exterior painting is where we see the most money wasted by the
consequences of shoddy workmanship. Exterior coatings are not just aesthetic;
they serve a protective function as well. A fresh coat of paint will dramatically
improve the looks of virtually any building and will almost always last long
enough for the painter to collect payment. Even completely honest painters
sometimes fail in their preparation due to lack of education. But, whatever the
cause, the result is often water damage, deterioration, and the expense of a
short-lived paint job.
